Don’t. Give. Up.
Yes, it’s hard out here. But that doesn’t mean it’s not attainable. It will take some hard work and dedication.
I’m talking to you…to the individual who says, “I knew getting an education was not for me because I wasn’t cut out for it.” Oh really? Well, you should reflect on what you just said. So, you just know you couldn’t do it. Did an educator tell you that? Who said you weren’t good enough? Why did you accept defeat?
But maybe what “they” should tell you is that…they failed you. The system failed you as a student. They failed to provide you the necessary tools to help you grow as a scholar. So in turn they excuse their faults and tell you, “you are not cut out for it.” And you believed it.
Time and time again, I come across individuals like you. I just wanted to let you know that—you DO have potential. You CAN further your education. You CAN do it.
The road will not be easy but it will be worth it in the end. Knowledge is power and no one can take that away from you.
At every turn there will always be someone who will say, “you are not good enough.” You know what you need to do, you need to prepare that “clapback” (walking across that stage works too—just sayin). Furthering your education is no easy task but “you cannot un-educate the person who has learned to read. You cannot humiliate the person who feels pride. You cannot oppress the people who are not afraid anymore” (Cesar Chavez).
And that my friend, is why there are many of us out here trying to stay woke.
Trying to better ourselves and our communities. Trying to level the playing field. Because . . .
Education. Is. Power.
